Title: Shape transition and nuclear isomers from mid-shell to closed-shell
Speaker: Prof. Hiroshi Watanabe,Beihang university
Abstract:
Shape is one of the fundamental features of atomic nuclei consisting of a number of protons and neutrons, which interact with each other through the strong nuclear force in a confined space. The emergence of metastable states (isomers) in atomic nuclei reflects the underlying nuclear-structure aspects, such as single-particle orbitals, nucleon-nucleon interactions, and collective degree of freedom. In this seminar, I will present new results and knowledge on nuclear shape transition and isomers obtained from decay spectroscopic studies at the RI-Beam Factory (RIBF) in Japan, using two different types of RI beam generator, the BigRIPS in-flight separator and the KEK Isotope Separation System (KISS).
